Guidance on the Use of Federal Grant Funds to Improve Education Outcomes Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Description

The July 2025 Guidance encourages using AI in instructional tools, tutoring, career exploration, and advising to enhance student engagement and outcomes. It emphasizes responsible AI use, including protecting student privacy, and outlines five key principles: AI should be educator-led, ethical, accessible, transparent and explainable, and data-protective.

Action to be taken

  • Identify areas where AI can support instruction, tutoring, and advising.
  • Ensure AI use is ethical, transparent, educator-led, accessible, and protects student data.
  • Train faculty and staff on responsible AI implementation.
  • Align AI initiatives with federal grant requirements and compliance rules.
