Guidance on FVT/GE Data Reporting, STATS Early Implementation, and Next Steps for Publication
Description
This guidance is a compliance alert for institutions that have not fully met Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) reporting requirements. The Department identified more than 1,900 institutions with missing or incomplete submissions, established January 15, 2027, as the final deadline to correct 2024 and 2025 reporting deficiencies, and warned that institutions that fail to comply may face enforcement actions.
The guidance also reminds institutions of the October 1, 2026 deadline for 2026 FVT/GE reporting, explains the option to early implement reduced reporting requirements under the new Student Tuition and Transparency System (STATS), and confirms that FVT/GE and STATS data will be publicly released beginning in 2027 after institutions have an opportunity to review draft data
Action to be taken
- Review your FVT/GE reporting status and identify any missing or incomplete 2024 or 2025 submissions.
- Submit any outstanding 2024 and 2025 data by January 15, 2027.
- Complete 2026 FVT/GE reporting by October 1, 2026.
- Determine whether to early implement STATS and take advantage of reduced 2026 reporting requirements.
- Validate data accuracy and completeness before submission and before public release of FVT/GE and STATS data beginning in 2027.
- Prepare for increased scrutiny and public transparency, as noncompliance may result in enforcement actions and reported data will be published
